Fine Derby Porcelain Armorial Sauce Tureen C.1790

About the Item

A fine Derby porcelain sauce tureen and stand c.1795-1800. Of navette shape, finely decorated with a blue band with gilding and the crest of the Elton family to the centre of each piece. In Heraldry, the crest is described as follows: Paly of six or and gules on a bend sable three mullets of the first. The crest may be blazoned as 'A dexter arm embowed vambraced proper holding fesswise a falchion argent pommelled and hilted or. Some version of this crest have encircling the arm at the elbow 'a cordon nowed vert'. Puce crown over crossed batons and the letter D to the base of the tureen and also the stand Condition: Excellent with just some minor rubbing/re-touching to the gilt on the stand and a couple of blemishes from the firing
