Ginori Porcelain Espresso Cup and Saucer Set, Renaissance Pattern, Italy 1950s

About the Item

Rare Richard Ginori demitasse or espresso cup and saucer set was made of fine semi-translucent porcelain in Italy. It is decorated in Renaissance pattern with wide bands of abstract flower garlands that evoke older, Neoclassical Ginori patterns, but with Modern and Art Deco influences. Both cup and saucer rims are accented with double gold rims; the understated graphic pattern of the rims adds definition and visual interest to the pieces. The handle of the cup features all-over gold decor. This version of the pattern can be found on pieces that date back to 1940s, often with old Ginori Doccia Pittoria marks. Both cup and saucer are marked with green "Richard Ginori" mark with the crown, that was in use in second half of 20th century, dating the cups to 1950s or early 1960s.
