Haviland Limoges Art Deco Set of 8 Porcelain Dessert Snack Plates

About the Item

Antique or vintage set of 8 small porcelain plates features an unusual Art Deco style decoration with floral garland in soft pink, cobalt blue, and bright green colors with gold outline and gold accents. The plates are accented with gold band trim at the rims. This is a rare pattern from Haviland's Art Deco period; the bright colorful decor and prominent gold accents make it stand out in the tablescape, but at the same time it matches perfectly their more reserved patterns with gold trims, such as variations on Wedding Band pattern. The plates are marked on the bottoms with green underglaze manufacturer mark, Haviland & Cie Limoges, that dates to 1893 - 1931, and red overglaze decorator mark that dates to 1889 - 1931; together, the marks date the set to 1893-1931. The convenient size of the plates allows them to be used either as dessert or bread plates in formal tablescape, or as a canape or occasional plates in buffet or coffee bar setting. Striking, highly decorative set with graphic, colorful decor, museum quality craftsmanship, and statement piece presence will make a great gift to a collector or a design enthusiast and a perfect addition to a wide range of interiors, from Traditional to Art Deco, English Cottage, Victorian, Neo Deco, Arts and Crafts, Modern Heritage, Eclectic, Transitional, Hollywood Regency, Glam, Modern Country, Maximalist, French Country, Collected, or Contemporary.
