Japanese Yellow and Black Chinoiserie Style Porcelain Charger Plate 1930s

About the Item

A large Japanese export 15" Chinoiserie-style porcelain charger plate, crafted in Japan around the 1930s. Stamped to its underside with a red insignia reading "foreign," a mark generally accepted as being used on export pieces for Europe during that era. This porcelain plate is hand-decorated with a Famille Jaune Chinoiserie-style figural scene, depicting three Japanese ladies harvesting plums and peaches. In the background, a beautifully figured black pine tree in full bloom is surrounded by vibrant peony flowers. The plate's decoration is meticulously executed with a selection of glossy enamel hues, set against a rich, inviting yellow background; the hue reminiscent of egg yolk. Contrasted with a glossy, enamelled jet-black border, peppered with deep red peony flowers and bright orange chrysanthemums. A beautifully crafted work of art, with a perfect color combination that is highly reminiscent of the famed Yamatoku Arita-Ware porcelain, known for its exceptional quality and intricate designs, which have become highly revered and collected over time
