Animal Figurine: Hoopoe situated on a tree's stump Manufactory: Meissen Hallmarked: Blue Meissen Sword Mark With Pommels on Hilts (underglazed) model number 278 / former's number 35 First quality Dating: made circa 1850 Material: porcelain, glossy finish, multicolored painted Technique: handmade porcelain Designer: Johann Joachim Kaendler (1706- 1775) / modelled 1736 Since 1731 modeller at Meissen Manufactory, Kaendler is the most famous sculptor having ever been active on behalf of Meissen. Size: Height 12.59 inches / 32.0 cm Width 4.92 inches / 12.5 cm Depth 6.88 inches / 17.5 cm Subject: Hoopoe On A Tree's Stump -- the BIRD being situated on a tree's stump partially decorated with leaves seems to be alertly watching its surroundings.
