Meissen Stunning Figurine Group The Loving Mother by Michel V. Acier, circa 1870

About

Meissen most remarkable figurine group by Michel Victor Acier (1774): The Loving Mother Designer: Michel Victor Acier (born in 1736 at Versailles, France - died 1799 at Dresden, Germany) The sculptor had studied at Academy of Fine Arts in Paris and was headhunted there for the Meissen Manufactory in year 1764. He became Master of Modelling very soon and important staff member of Meissen Manufactory as well as assistant of J.J.Kändler. Additionally, Acier was member of Dresden Academy since the year 1780. Specifications: The Loving Mother -- this superb figurine group shows a mother having sat down - surrounded by three children: a lovely little boy wearing a feathered hat embraces his mother, caressing her by fondling her chin / a female baby child wearing a lovely dress as well as a cap sit's on mothers's knees, trying to catch the playing cards having fallen on its lap ... / the third child - a boy - sits on an upholstered stool, holding some playing cards in hands -- all figurines are dressed in most elegant Rococo garments which were worn only by members of noble 18th century society -- the figurine group is attached to oval rocky base with golden painted frieze decoration at its edge -- This Meissen item is one of the finest figuring groups ever made by the Meissen Manufactory: This group shows influence of sensitive style as well as preference for depiction of bourgeois themes, which had become popular in the 18th century by painting created, for example, by Jean-Baptiste Greuze (1725 - 1805).
