About the Item
A superb and stylish Aesthetic Movement Minton porcelain cabinet plate decorated with birds, flowering hawthorn and other designs attributed to Christopher Dresser (British, 1834-1904) dated 1880.
Christopher Dresser was a renowned and influential designer born in Glasgow in 1834. In 1876 he was appointed as an emissary to Japan following many years prior to this travelling in Japan returning with inspiration which made him a huge influence on the Aesthetic Movement and bringing Anglo-Japanese styles to ceramic design. He is considered as one of the most influential ceramic designers of any period.
