Napoleon III Gilt Bronze-Mounted Green Ground Porcelain Jardinière
About the Item
French 19th century gilt bronze-mounted porcelain jardinière. It is decorated on the exterior with a couple in a landscape on one side and with a bird on a branch on the other side. The interior of the jardinière is highlighted with a polychromatic garland and a bunch of flowers. The two medallions are framed in a gold-colored border decorated with branches and flowers. Underneath the bowl, a young man is playing the Horn to a woman, under a tree. The branches of the tree form the handles which are adorned with putti and foliages. The jardinière rests on a naturalistic base and six small foliated feet,
