Set of 2 demitasse cups and 2 saucers was made by Haviland & Cie in Limoges, France. The Art Deco style form of a footed cups, with 3 small ball feet, is rather rare and hard to find, especially in coffee or demitasse size. In this set the pieces were hand painted by a professional artist in a decorating studio with Victorian style motif of pink English roses. Calm light pink and green colors are accentuated by bright gold rims and gold trim on handles and ball feet; crisp white color of semi-translucent porcelain showcases the soft, delicate decor without overpowering it. The pieces are marked with green underglaze manufacturer mark Haviland France that dates to 1894-1931. The set is in very good antique condition with minimal wear on gold that is appropriate to its age. The advent of Arts and Craft Movement created the notion that the aesthetic quality of everyday utilitarian objects could be improved by merit of craftsmanship, and many painters and artists felt inspired to merge their activities into decorative arts, such as ceramics, decor objects, or dinnerware. Large number of wholesale and retail firms, such as Pickard, Stouffer, or Brauer studios, and many high-end department stores that carried factory decorated Limoges's porcelain, had their own china decorating departments and produced high quality hand painted porcelain. A very Important Pair of 19th Century Meissen Schneeballen/Snowball Covered Vases with Birds, Bird Cage with One Bird, and Raised Flowers. Each vase is of large size, with a baluster form body densely encrusted with clusters of small applied flowers arranged to resemble snowballs. Green vine-like stems and leaves wind around the surface, adding depth to the composition. The bodies are raised on spreading circular bases decorated with the same clustered blossoms and foliage. Pierced sections with latticework detail are present, incorporating floral sprays and framing small enclosed bird cages, each containing a modeled bird within. Applied birds are positioned throughout the vases, with lifelike natural coloration. Among them, bright yellow orioles with black wings and orange beaks, gray and black small birds, and reddish-brown finches with striped wings are depicted perched on branches or atop the covers. The lids are removable and are likewise encrusted with blossoms and vines, surmounted by perched songbirds. The combination of encrusted floral ground, modeled foliage, and naturalistic birds creates a richly detailed surface characteristic of Meissen’s snowball...

This round and colorful antique planter was created in “Faïencerie de Gien," France, circa 1890. The large porcelain flower pot has intertwined snake handles, and features traditional Greek style motifs throughout. The sculptural, ceramic vase is decorated with hand painted traditional allegory motifs, including the Horn of plenty and lambrequin mantling decor. Wonderful aesthetic movement tea cup in hand-painted and hand-gilt porcelain by the English manufactory Minton. Blue background with stylized red flowers imitating the cloisonné technique, very common in the Japonisme ware.
