Rare Pair Meissen Marcolini Lemon Trees in Tubs Circa 1790 Porcelain

About the Item

A Superb matching pair of Meissen Marcolini Lemon Trees in Tubs Circa 1790. Fine quality Meissen porcelain models of flowerpots, modelled as cylindrical tubs enhanced in gilt with 2 mythological maskson sides of each one, these are made in the marcolini period a time when meissen made their finest porcelain productions. The size is 4 3/4 inches (14.5 cm) Tall. The Marcolini period of Meissen manufacture takes its name from Count Camillo Marcolini, Prime Minister of the German kingdom of Saxony, where the Meissen factory was located, who was also named director of the Meissen works in 1774, a position he held until 1814.
