Cylindric cup with angular handle and saucer with View of Schönbrunn castle / Vienna. Vienna / old imperial Austrian porcelain manufactory (= alt Wien / kaiserliche porzellan manufaktur) Made circa 1811 Hallmarked: Former's number 4 Viennese blue beehive mark (underglazed) Dated 1811 (?) year's mark quite hard to read It is porcelain of highest quality, manufactured in period when Matthias Niedermayer had direction of Viennese imperial porcelain manufactory (1805-1827). Subject: This excellent Antique viennese cup with saucer deriving from austrian imperial porcelain manufactory  is decorated in finest manner with VARIOUS ORNAMENTS: Saucer and cup are partially covered with abstract patterns - some of them golden painted - edging surface shaded in deep purple red; the rims are painted in golden color. This cup's very special feature is the picture painting with View of Schönbrunn Castle shown at front side. The Schönbrunn Castle is one of most famous feudal residences of Europe, having been constructed during Baroque period in an area where some noble buildings had existed since Middle Ages: Emperor Charles VI. came to possession of unfinished castle in year 1728 and made his daughter Maria Theresia a present of Schönbrunn residence / its construction started in 1742 and was finished circa 1770. Finest quality of multicolored painting ! There is following painted sentence in French language at cup's reverse side visible: 'Entrée au chateau de Schönbrunn' (= Der Eingangsbereich des Schlosses Schönbrunn) Size: height diameter of cup: 2.36 / 2.55 inches (= 6.0 / 6.5 cm) diameter of saucer: 5.31 inches (= 13.5 cm).
