A rarely seen Palissy style Provençal Majolica trompe l’oeil wall plate made and signed by the potter A. Martin, from Vallauris, Cote d’Azur, France, Mid-Century Modern Era, circa 1950s. A heavy piece, a matte black glazed earthenware body, showing brightly colored, dimensional vegetables grown in the region of Southern France. A tomato, ear of corn, peas in a pod, a carrot, an artichoke, an asparagus bunch, and two mushrooms sit raised on the surface. Signed A. Martin – Vallauris Measures: 9.5 in. diameter. x 2 in. height Excellent.
