Rare Pipe in the Shape of a Snake, circa 1810

About

Antique English rare molded pottery "coiled" pipe in the shape of a snake swallowing a head, hand-painted in underglaze green, reddish brown and black. These pipes are usually attributed to Pratt who worked in Stoke-on-Trent in Staffordshire, but they were manufactured in many pottery centers in Britain as well as Wales and Scotland. It is quite charming and whimsical.
