Modernist Painted and Signed Cup and Saucer, circa 1960

About the Item

An unusual and interesting modernist hand-painted pottery cup and saucer, the latter painted with a Primitive black outlined deer decorated in brightly coloured glazes on a speckled matte grey ground the saucer of oval shape with slightly raised ends with a small recess for the cup. The cup is of wide rounded shape with an unusual side handle and is decorated in bright orange glazes the outer cup and handle in speckled matte grey. The saucer is signed and both pieces have incised makers marks to the base.
