1880s Veyrat French 18-Karat Gold Sterling Silver Baccarat Crystal Dresser Set

About the Item

Head of Minerve 1st titre for 950/1000 French sterling silver. The quality of the gold used to recover sterling silver is a minimum of 750 mils (18-karat). Rococo decoration for this exceptional and rare dresser set seven pieces in sterling silver, 18-karat gold and Baccarat cut crystal, comprising of four perfume or cologne bottles and a trio of covered jars or boxes. Each bottle retains their original stoppers. These pieces are unmarked, made prior to the acid-etched mark first used by the firm in 1936. It's a production of 18-karat gold and sterling silver luxury. Of special note is the weight of these pieces. Prestigious silversmith: Veyrat. 20 rue de Malte, Paris. They exhibited and received prizes in almost all the national and international exhibitions. Starting with a bronze medal at the exposition d'industrie francaise in 1827, for their fine cutlery: they also won awards in 1834, 1839, 1844, 1849, 1853, 1855, 1861, 1863, 1867, and in 1878 in Paris when Veyrat Pe're was a member of the jury for silverware. The Maison Veyrat was succeeded by Victor Boivin in the early 20th century.
