19th Century Italian Baroque Style Solid Silver Hand Made Jewellery Box Case
About the Item
Important jewelry box made in Italy at the end of the 19th century.
Made entirely by hand from silver sheet and shaped. The whole body has been embossed and engraved by hand with a scroll design typical of the Baroque period.
The high quality of the workmanship is evident and visible in every part of the object.
The inside of the jewelry box has been thickly gilded, while the outside has only been polished, so much so that there are no traces of restorations and repairs.
This box has been welded 4 feet in the lower part, allowing it to rise from the surface where it will rest, making it more proportionate and slender.
In the bottom of the jewelery box, the 800 mark is printed without outlines or frames, typical of the period of the late 19th - early 20th century in Italy. The silversmith's stamp is not visible as there was no legislation that required it to be introduced at the time. This is very common in Italian silver objects of that period.
Italian silverware, already with a centuries-old tradition, had a great development in the twentieth century and produced pieces of the highest quality that the whole world envies. Italian craftsmanship had a kind of new Renaissance after the war.
A great many high-quality silverware was born where exceptional pieces were produced that now decorate the most prestigious houses.
