20th Century Art Deco Revival Sterling Silver Cigarette Case
About the Item
Commemorative sterling silver cigarette case made in 1944, in aid of "RCAF War II case No. 9 Air Observer School 1944 - St. Johns, Quebec - " The silver cigarette case weighs about 158 grams (approximately 9.875 oz.), engraved on the outer cover "No 9 AIR OBSERVER SCHOOL, ST. JOHNS", inside front cover engraved "PRESENTED TO AIR NAVIGATOR L.C. HIGGINS, WINNER OF THE "SKYWAYS" TROPHY, DECEMBER 1944", on the same inside panel at the outermost part is marked "BIRK STERLING", the inside clasp is rigid and engraved "STERLING". There are stamp "89" on both inner panels of the lid, the number "8" on one of the sides is worn but can be distinguished well, the box is hinged, for opening there is a pressure button on the side, it opens with a slight touch, the condition of the object is more than good.
Dimensions are 82.5 mm x 116.7 mm x 10 mm.
