20th Century Italian Sterling Silver Renaissance style Entree Dish

About the Item

Renaissance-style round sterling silver entree dish. The bottom of the entree dish is smooth, while a border made with the casting technique with acanthus leaf motifs has been welded onto the edge. The lid has been embossed and chiseled with close-set torchon motifs, to give light and brilliance to the object, allowing all the facets to mirror each other. Another decorative border, smaller in size but still with the same workmanship, has been welded onto the lid. The handle is made with the casting technique and with scroll motifs. The handle is easily detachable with a convenient bayonet fitting and allows the object, dividing into two parts, to become two serving plates or two bowls for sweets/candy etc. Made in the artisan silversmith's workshop of ARVAL ARGENTI VALENZA – ITALY
