Antique Russian Silver Tea-set

About the Item

This fine and charming silver tea-set comprises a teapot, a sugar pot with a spoon and two jugs; one smaller and one larger. Each piece features an engraved crest and crown to their bodies, as well as gilt interiors and full hallmarks. Made c.1900 at the turn of the twentieth century, the beauty and simplicity of each piece is emphasised by the unadorned and unornamented nature of their design and decoration. The purity and craftsmanship of the silver speaks out, and the crests and crowns are given full pride of place. On the teapot, the black rings are made of ebonised wood, replacing the original ivory insulators.
