An exceptional, fine and impressive antique Georgian English sterling silver christening mug; an addition to our christening gifts collection. This exceptional, fine and impressive antique George III sterling silver christening mug has a circular rounded form onto a circular domed spreading foot. The lower portion of this antique silver mug is embellished with exceptional cast and applied strapwork decoration. The upper portion of the body is ornamented with flat engraved frieze of husks, flowers and scroll decoration. The rim of the mug bears an applied moulded border. This antique 19th Century silver mug is fitted with an impressive cast silver opposing scroll handle with a scrolling leaf thumbpiece and scrolling lower terminal. The hallmarked base of the impressive mug is embellished with the contemporary engraved inscription 'The Gift of his God Father IDB'. This antique Georgian mug bears the original gilded interior. This impressive period mug, crafted by the renowned London silversmith Robert Garrard I, is an exceptional example of its type.
