Antique Vienna Empire Silver Sugar Urn, Budapest, Hungary, Circa 1805

About the Item

Empire silver sugar vase, pressed bulbous body on a high, offset round stand with a fluted rim, the upper half of the vessel chased with flowers and feathered leaf decoration, raised bows on both sides as handles, raised, pierced rim with stylized leaf decoration, a loosely recessed, high domed lid, crowned with sculpted flowers and rosettes of leaves. Finest work by a Budapest silversmith. Towermark + 13 for Budapest/Pest Hungary, 13 Lot silver, before 1866 Master's mark 'AS' in two-pass, presumably Anton Ase, who worked as a master 1802-1809.
