Early 19th Century Silver and Crystal Candy Dish

About the Item

Drageoir in silver and crystal blown and carved. The drageoir is decorated on both sides with finely chiselled motifs representing children in gardener's costume and holding in his hands a shovel. At the feet of these children, a dog is represented. The neck of the drageoir is decorated with openwork motifs. The handles on both sides wrap to finish with floral motifs. The removable lid is decorated with a laurel wreath and palmette. The drageoir rests on a quadrangular base chiselled of palmettes and carried by four feet balls. Measures: W: 14.4 oz (410 gr). H: 9 in. (23 cm) / L: 4.5 in. (11,5 cm) Silver marks: Title mark: Head of Ceres. 1819-1838 Garantee mark: Head of Michelangelo. 1819-1838 Silversmith: Naudin.1812-1813. Period: French Restauration. Circa 1815-1820.
