Georg A Scheid Austrian Silver Guilloche Enamel Silver Buckle
About the Item
A very fine antique Austrian Viennese Secessionist silver guilloche enamel belt buckle by renowned silversmith Georg Anton Scheid (Austrian, 1838-1921) and dating from around 1900. The buckle is superbly made in heavy gauge silver with belt and hook attachments to the back. The buckle is of simple open curved form with wide flat edges inset with a rich blue guilloche enamel band set within a simple white enamel border. The buckle has an impressed G.A.S. makers mark along with impressed silver marks and is impressed 900. The work of Scheid is often offered for sale by Christies and Sotheby’s and is highly considered among collectors worldwide.
Provenance: acquired through the UK art market.
In good condition with light age wear.
