A sculptural late 20th-century ostrich egg bowl mounted in sterling silver by A. Kuger, retaining its original buffalo head handles and hand-finished silver mounts. Combining organic natural material with refined silver craftsmanship, the piece reflects the sophisticated safari-inspired decorative arts aesthetic popular during the 1980s and 1990s.
The bowl is formed from a genuine polished ostrich eggshell, prized for its naturally stippled surface and warm parchment-like coloration. The shell is mounted with a twisted sterling silver rim and matching circular foot, creating an elegant contrast between the organic texture of the egg and the polished silver framework.
Most distinctive are the sculptural buffalo-head handles mounted at opposing sides.
