Large American Art Nouveau Sterling Silver Jewel Casket

About the Item

Large Art Nouveau sterling silver jewel casket. Made by Woods & Chatellier in New York, ca 1910. Rectangular with straight sides, curved corners, and hinged bracket end handles. Cover hinged with gently raised top. Densed leafing scrollwork and flowers engraved allover sides and cover. Cover top has central oval frame (vacant). Hasp with padlock and key. Interior fitted with hinged and detachable parts for storing the precious heirloom bits. Twelve slots alone for the rings! A wonderful gift that could nonetheless raise further expectations. Fully marked including maker’s stamp. Heavy gross weight: 138 troy ounces.
