Sterling Silver LARGE SWEETMEAT BASKET with OVERHANDLE Full English hallmark showing that it was made in 1911 Anchor - Assay Office Mark for Birmingham Lion - Sterling guarantee mark m - Date letter for Birmingham 1911 C & C - Maker`s mark for Cohen & Charles, Thavies Inn, Holborn Circus, London. A most attractive basket, of superb quality. The sides decorated with a pierced, geometric pattern. The top edge strengthened with a bead pattern border . The overhandle, a double band of beadwork matching the basket edge. Mounted on a pierced and stepped, trumpet shaped foot. Original owner`s monogram, E M P, on the inner upper edge - see picture 8 The handle has had a strengthening repair to both sides - pictures 9 & 10. Height:- 220 millimetres / 8.66 inches. Width:- 122 mms. / 4.80 ins. Length:- 176 mms. / 6.93 ins. Weight:- 232 grams / 7.46 troy ounces.
