C & C - Maker`s mark for Cohen & Charles, Thavies Inn, Holborn Circus, London.
A most attractive basket, of superb quality. The sides decorated with a pierced, geometric pattern. The top edge strengthened with a bead pattern border . The overhandle, a double band of beadwork matching the basket edge.
Mounted on a pierced and stepped, trumpet shaped foot.
Original owner`s monogram, E M P, on the inner upper edge - see picture 8
The handle has had a strengthening repair to both sides - pictures 9 & 10.
