Sterling Silver Tray Stamped on Verso "Dirk Van Erp" Made by William Van Erp

About the Item

An elegant sterling silver tray of simple form with restrained handles in the art moderne style. Stamped with the Dirk Van Erp windmill mark on the underside and the word sterling. This piece was produced during the period after William Van Erp, Dirk's son, had taken over the business following the death of his father in 1933. William continued the business under the family name until the 1970's when he died. Most of the silver works produced during his tenure were silverplate; sterling trays of this size are very unusual to find. Weight: Approximately 135 troy ounces.
