Hallmarked in London in 1816 by Thomas Wallis II, this antique Regency period sterling silver toast rack will hold 6 slices of toast. It is fitted with a central, ornate handle featuring a shell and scroll-bordered cartouche, which is engraved with an original crest. The base is decorated with a gadroon border and is elevated on four substantial feet ornamented with shell and acanthus leaf motifs. This piece measures 5.5" (14cm) tall, 7" (18cm) wide, and 5.25" (13.5cm) deep, with a weight of 14.3 troy ounces.
