Murano glass bottle with gold inserts, made by Carlo Moretti in the 70s. Measures: Ø cm 5, H cm 23 Carlo Nason, born in Murano in 1935 from one of the oldest glassmaking families on the island, he was a great master glassmaker. He grew up attending the glass masters who work in the family furnace, appropriating the most refined techniques of glass art, demonstrating an innovative and planning attitude that he employed in the field of design, but referring to tradition. In 1925 the Nason Moretti company was founded by the Nasone brothers, specializing in the production of furnishing accessories and tableware, where the mastery of the most refined Murano techniques is integrated with a modern vision and careful chromatic research. In 1955 Umberto Nason created an innovative project of two-tone bowls and glasses that earned him the Compasso d'Oro award. In the 1960s, with the second generation of the family, there was a great development of the company which still maintained its characteristic vocation for experimentation. In the 1980s he looked at lighting with postmodern reinterpretations of designed lights, with the Carlo Moretti Studio line and the series of collectible goblets and glasses. Since the 1990s, the business has focused on new collections conceived in a modern and design-oriented key. Carlo Moretti of Venice, founded by Carlo in 1958 in Murano, passed to new ownership in 2013, but it is still an important company today due to its constant relationship with design. The company is known for the beauty and elegance of Murano glass, arriving not only in the tables of the most important families, but also in the modern tables of today. Worked with ancient and secret techniques, Nason Moretti glasses...

  • Murano Glass Pills Bottle, VELENI by L+W, 2022 - Limited Edition collectibles
    By Lanzavecchia + Wai
    Located in Milan, IT
A bottle full of pills. Confusing for many, intriguing for some. Despite its inviting appearance, this bottle may act as warning of the large presence of drugs and antibiotics in our water. You can place VELENI’s Bottle BO-40rw on your table to actually serve water, but why not use it as a vase or a sculpture to communicate a statement at dinners, triggering a conversation on awareness? VELENI is a collection of 12 glass sculptures designed by Lanzavecchia + Wai and crafted by the expert hands of Murano’s glass blowers, a contemporary vanitas shedding awareness on the impact humankind has had on Earth. A series of objects whose beauty can confound, the collection’s interior is enriched by aesthetically pleasing yet extremely dangerous pollutants. Revealed by the transparency of glass whilst isolated by airtight chambers, the appeal of the colors clashes with what they actually represent, making us wonder: how and why is our waste so close to what we consume? Playing with proportions and volumes, the collection allows us to visualize the pollutants generated by our lives, which contaminate our waters and end up on our tables. VELENI hopes to lead you onto a journey of self-discovery, to a maturation of awareness on how pollution is jeopardizing our health, and the environment. About Lanzavecchia+Wai Lanzavecchia + Wai is a creative collaboration between Francesca Lanzavecchia (Pavia, 1983) and Hunn Wai (London, 1980). To them, being designers means being researchers, engineers, craftsmen and story-tellers all at the same time. Lanzavecchia is focused on the relationships objects have and can have with the human body and soul as well as having a fervent eye for future trends. Wai is fascinated by the collisions and fusions of materials, meanings and forms. The works of Lanzavecchia + Wai were exhibited during the Biennale Internationale design Saint-Etienne, the London Design Biennale, but also in museums such as the London Design Museum, the MAK - Museum of Applied Arts - Vienna, the National Museum of Singapore, the Triennale di Milano, the Pratt Manhattan Gallery - New York, the Singapore Art...
