    An exceptional, fine and impressive, rare antique Edwardian English sterling silver commemorative tray; an addition to our silver tray collection This exceptional antique Edwardian sterling silver tray has a rectangular form with rounded corners. The surface of this sterling silver serving tray is embellished with impressive and rare commemorative engraved decoration incorporating two large portraits of King Edward VII and Princess Alexandra. The surface is further embellished with four engraved scenes of the Royal family homes, in addition to a large central Royal coat of arms of the United Kingdom, above the motto 'Dieu et mon droit ' - God and my right; this is the motto of the Monarch of the United Kingdom. The raised rounded border of this antique silver tray is ornamented with applied gadroon decoration to the rim. This antique silver tray is fitted with a fine pair of cast sterling silver scrolling brackets handles, each featuring a turned painted wood handpiece.     A fine and impressive set of six antique George V English sterling silver menu / card holders - boxed; an addition to our diverse dining silverware collection. These fine antique George V sterling silver menu card holders have circular shaped bases. Each piece is surmounted with an impressive wishbone* shaped design with a paralleling shaped support. The subtly convex bases are encircled with an elevated scalloped border. The weighted bases of these impressive menu holders are fitted with green baize to the underside. This impressive set of antique silver menu card holders is fitted to the original hinged leatherette box with satin and velvet lined interior, secured with two hinged catches. The interior of the box bears the retailer's mark 'Robert Stewart (Jewellers) Ltd, 75 Sauchiehall Street, Glasgow'. A wishbone, otherwise known as the furcular, is a forked bone found in birds and some dinosaurs. The main function of the bone is to provide strength between the neck and breast, to protect the creature during battle. The Ancient Romans perceived this bone as a symbol of luck which allowed the progression of breaking a dried chicken wishbone apart whilst making a wish; this procedure determined the person with the bigger half would receive their wish or have good fortune.
