Russian Solid Silver Judaica Spice Shaker, 1894

About the Item

A good and rarely found hallmarked Russian silver spice tower, the bowl surmounted by the Star of David centred by a red semi precious stone cabouchon set in a silver collar and with original and well fitting clasp in excellent working condition. The bowl supported by two figures, one playing an accordion and the other a Shofar horn, standing on a circular engraved base with flattened bun feet. The spice shaker stands level and firm and is stamped with the maker's mark (KII); the initials (AA) over the year made 1894 (AA - stands for Assa Apollonovich Artsybashev) the 84 stands for the Russian silver proof (the standard is .875). The condition appears very clean and bright without damage or repairs. The spice tower is approx. 3 1/2" and weighs 47.2 g. The globe opens and closes with the catch working smoothly.
