Very Good Set of Four George iv Silver Wine Coasters Sheffield, 1828

About

A set of four superb quality silver wine coasters each of waisted form with a patterned frieze of trailing vine leaves and grapes to the belly. The centre of the wooden bases with a plain silver boss. The ornate cast rims of shell, flower and scroll pattern design. Marked to each base rim and each boss for Sheffield 1828 for S.C.Younge and Co. These are a very fine set of coasters in first class original condition with no damage or repair. Very good robust gauge silver throughout. The hallmarks are all clearly legible and the wooden bases are covered with the original green baize. Their large size will easily accommodate any wine bottle or larger sized champagne bottles. Measures: Diameter: 16.5 cm or 6.5 inches.
