20th Century Continental Silver Five-Piece Tea and Coffee Service

About the Item

An exceptional, fine and impressive antique European sterling silver five-piece tea and coffee set/service; part of our silver teaware collection. This exceptional antique European silver tea and coffee set consists of a coffee pot, teapot, cream jug, sugar bowl and slop bowl. Each piece of this five-piece service has an oval form, apart from the slop bowl which has a circular rounded form. The surface of each piece is embellished with fine and impressive bright cut engraved interlacing bands accented with a narrow zig zag border and wriggle work ornamentation. The teapot and coffee pot are fitted with plain flush hinged hallmarked covers surmounted with the original carved painted wood and silver topped finials; the flush hinges indicates the high quality of the service. The cover of each piece is encompassed with an identical border to that of the body, continuing to the upper plateau and across the hinge. The teapot, coffee pot, cream jug and sugar bowl retain the original carved wood C shaped handles accented with plain scrolling thumbpieces. The coffee pot and teapot are fitted with impressive plain tapering spouts. The hallmarks struck to the underside of each base include: Maker's mark: A. Collet Silver quality/purity mark: 0,800 (800/1000) Registration number: 3155 Condition This European silver tea and coffee set is an exceptional gauge of silver, exceptional quality and in exceptional condition. Each piece has been professionally polished and is in presentation condition. The bright cut engraved decoration is all very crisp. The interior of each piece has been professionally cleaned and is ready for use. The hallmarks struck to the underside of each piece are all very clear.
