This is a 13 part porcelain tea set by Shelley Potteries Ltd, Staffordshire, England in a striking pattern and from the Art Deco period, circa 1920. The tea set has a bold Art Deco geometric black and white checked pattern with hand gilded detail, which is Shelley Potteries pattern number 10797. The set comprises 13 pieces in total; 4 x side plates diameter: 6.75 inch 4 x cups height: 2.38 inch 4 x saucers diameter: 5.5 inch 1 x sandwich Plate size: 9.38 x 8 inches All pieces are fully marked to the base with Shelley's printed mark for the period and the pattern number hand painted in gold, which dates the set to the early 20th century period 1916 to 1925.

    This is a cup & saucer duo in the rarely seen, hand painted "Pine Grove" Pattern by the renowned Art Deco designer Clarice Cliff. This piece dates to the late Bizarre period, Circa 1935. The Pine Grove Pattern was Newport pattern 6449, having boldly drawn black, blue and green fir trees with orange/red trunks, the whole design then covered in thin grey, blue & green bands.
