Our large, antique circular jade exhibition screen from the Tsuda family is decorated with abalone shell, malachite, coral, lapis lazuli, pearl, and other hardstones. Depicted is a lakeside with figures in boats, colorful blooming flowers in the foreground, figures, pagoda and bridge and a rocky outcropping in the distance. The legendary Tsuda family in Kyoto is revered around the world for their embellished jade carvings, particularly snuff bottles. Works by Tsuda Sokan and his son Tsuda Fukuya, regularly appear at auction and can be found in prestigious collections worldwide. Our parcel gilt sterling silver wine goblet by Mihail Chemiakin (1943- ) measures 21 in (53 cm) tall and is in very good condition. Rim with the familiar stamped marks of the artist, including his signature, logo, STERLING, 585 (gold), MAS, and copyright mark. Approximately 3.2 kg (over 110 oz)

Our very large, full-length portrait of a distinguished Japanese lady in kimono was painted by Greta Kempton (Austrian-American, 1903-1991), famous for her portraiture and role as the official White House painter under President Harry S. Truman. This oil on canvas, signed lower left, measures 42 by 80 inches and is mounted in a lovely cassetta frame with gilt designs measuring 52.5 by 90.5 inches (4' 4.5" by 7' 6.5") Known as "America's Court Painter", Kempton painted portraits of the Truman family and entire White House cabinet. She enjoyed a lengthy career as a portraitist to important figures from American politics, business and entertainment, plus everyday people from a range of cultures and communities.
