    French Art Deco teay / coffee set by ROUX-MARQUIAND (Lyon), France, 1925. Silverplate metal and noble woods. This tea and coffee service obtained a gold medal at the Salon des Arts Décoratifs of 1925, in Paris. It is composed of four pieces, this set never had a tray made by RM, just four pieces. We have added a tray which seems to us to be perfectly suitable. Teapot - Height: 6.3"(16cm), Width: 8.7"(22cm). Coffee-pot - Height: 7.5"(19cm), Width: 8.1"(20.5cm). Sugar-pot - Height: 5.1"(13cm), Width: 5.7"(14.5cm). Creamer - Height: 3.9"(10cm), Width: 5.6"(14.2cm). Roux-Marquiand stamp on each piece. Tray - Outter diameter: 18.2"(46.3cm) - Height: 1.6"(4cm). Condition : excellent for the set - very good for the tray. Lyon, 7 rue Centrale. Created in 1876 by ??two artisans, Chapuis and Marquiand that combine to build a silver shop, the company is called Roux-Marquiand in 1877, due to marriage. It will remain in the hands of the same family until the 1960s.In 1918, it is directed by a woman who, widowed during the war, maintains, supported by faithful craftsmen, a production of high quality. This is an important company that will have up to 100 workers, employing a workforce of high level. It will never achieve religious silversmith and will focus only on silverplate, seeking to limit the hegemony of Christofle, omnipresent on the market. All facets of the profession are present, there are workshops in carving, polishing, silvering. The burnishing action of brown metal, is mainly done by women.
