Monumental Cut Glass and Gilded Vase of Alhambra Form
Exhibited at the 1862 London International Exhibition by Wilhelm Hoffmann, this monumental vase is of colorless glass and gilded decoration. The faceted flared neck resting upon a shaped and molded base flanked by a pair of eagle-headed double incurved and serrated arms. The concave faceted body resting upon a faceted molded stepped socle. The vase resting on a tall faceted and incurved stand above a cavetto and multifaceted base all profusely decorated with fine gilded motifs of Islamic influence. One chip to base, one invisible chip under a handle.
