About

An amazing and special piece by renowned American potter Paul Soldner who in the 1950s was Peter Voulkos' first student and later became famed for developing the technique now known as "American Raku" - a practice of using low temperature salt firing to make his vessels. The bowl is in fine vintage condition and is signed/marked with Soldner's stamp at edge of base. Soldner's work can be found in collections and museums worldwide including: Victoria and Albert Museum United Kingdom Los Angeles County Museum of Art Museum of Arts and Design New York American Museum of Ceramic Art, Pomona, California (which opened with a featured exhibition of his work in 2004 titled "Inferno") Australian National Gallery, Sydney, Australia National Museum of Modern Art, Koyoto, Japan Oakland Museum of Art Scripps College, Claremont Smithsonian Institution's National Museum of American Art, Washington DC Taipei Fine Arts Museum, Taipei, Taiwan Dimensions: 5.5" high, 10.75" diameter.
