This an impressive large early 20th century silver collar or neck band in the traditional Miao/Hmong Tribal tradition. The collar is composed of three individual but complementary bands, each designed in an abstract geometric pattern. The collars are mounted on a custom Steel stand. All three collars are in excellent overall condition; no faults have been noted. The Miao are an ethnic minority and are located principally at the intersection of northern Thailand, Laos, Myanmar and China. Silver is highly prized by the Miao who gift silver to their daughters beginning at birth.

This work (along with a second yunomi - clearly from the same artist. Please see the last image) came from a collector of fine Japanese and Asian ceramics - a collection like no other we have seen before. The yunomi teacup has a very Wabi-Sabi feel and appearance to it.

The piece radiates in the light and features an abstract trailed glaze design. The work is very reminiscent of Japanese master potters Shoji Hamada and Toshiko Takaezu (the previous owner lived half of each year in Hawaii where Toshiko lived and collected both her and Hamada's works).
