Early Wild Goose Chase Quilt
About the Item
Richly colored Wild Goose Chase quilt (aka Geese in Flight) from the early 19th century. Abutting the triangles gives a terrific up and down movement to the "geese". Streak of Lightning border was meant to indicate the end for the head. Clamshell quilting in outer border; diagonal lines and stylized flowers in the triangles.Excellent condition; measures 100" x 104". Probably new England origin. For unknown reasons, a button is sewn to the border as shown in thumbnail photo.
