Hearth Rug Early 19th Century American Folk Art

About the Item

Folk art hand shirred and hooked rug in wonderful colors on a black mottled background. Wool on linen, American, New England circa 1830's. The colors of the flowers are perfectly beautiful against the mottled almost Mondrian like black background. In excellent condition attached to the original professional mount on which it was found. This item is being in as found condition. All photographs were taken out of doors so that you can see the true colors in daylight.
