Yuntdag Rug with Cloudband Border

About the Item

Yuntdag rug with Cloudband border. A great example of Western Anatolian weaving by tribal groups settled in the Manisa - Bergama region, attributed to the highland pastures of Yuntdag. This is one of the characteristic designs of the region featuring the prominent cloudband border. A rug of this size would have been the largest piece in the weaver's household. Note the slightly off-center placement of the central motif and other irregularities in the design, adding charm and authenticity to this wonderful weaving.
