Hand Carved Heavy Wood Wall Relief Plaque Panel of Catholic Saint, 19th Century
About the Item
A wonderful, intricately carved, heavy work depicting a religious figure, likely a catholic saint offering his blessing (We have been told that this may be the Holy Infant of Prague (Santo Nino de Praga) or the Infant Jesus of Prague. This piece was perhaps featured in a church or nunnery at one time.
We are listing it as 19th century but could be older.
Carved from heavy wood, likely teak. Truly an amazing piece. We have not seen another quite this ornate and well done.
