Large African or Dogon Carved Tintam Figure

About

Wonderfully carved, heavy and substantial. This monumental Tintam figure with raised arms and hands (widely interpreted as a gesture of prayer and an appeal to the Heavens for rain) was made by the Dogon peoples of Mali and measures nearly 7 feet tall. We are listing as 20th century but could likely be older. The sculpture show clear signs of use and wear. Comes with stand. These particular carved figures do not come available often (especially with these dimensions) and would clearly be a great addition to any collection. This work compares favorably (roughly the same size) to the one that is currently on display at The Met in NYC which they describe as "one of the largest Dogon sculptures known." Dimensions: 82" High, 16" Wide, 16" Deep (with stand)
