Large Early 20th Century French Double Sided Painted Iron Cafe Sign with Bracket

About

This very large early 20th century French hand-painted iron cafe sign is double faced and is entitled Cafe de la Poste (Post Office Cafe). In the centre on a red background is the name of the proprietor G. Gruinetz. Below his name are the French words Tabac Restaurant, indicating that full restaurant service was available as well as the services of a tobacconist. The two digit telephone number 24 is indicative of the age of the sign since French phone numbers are now comprised of ten numbers. The sign itself measures 29 inches in height and 33 inches in width and hangs from its original hand-forged scrolled iron bracket, circa 1930.
