"Lady and Baby by The Wishing Well" Still Bank, German, circa 1910
Located in Incline Village, NV
Very interesting wooden still bank with lots going on. All hand-carved of wood with four small circular risers elevating the base. There is a water pump with a bucket hanging from it and a metal pumper attached to the top. A hand-carved and painted brown pine tree is attached at the opposite corner with a large water well to the other corner. A lady with outstretched arms and a "King Cole" type headdress seems to be reaching out to her baby dressed in green who is lying down on top of the well, next to the coin slot. Perhaps she is about to bathe her. A bird looks on from atop the perch protruding from the pump. Dominant hand painted colors are different shades of brown and all original with no repaint. Very nice all original paint and condition with a small chip missing here and there to this handmade, kind of "folksy", and very well done bank (see images). A round circular key lock trap for releasing the coins is on the underneath, along with "Wishing Well German" handwritten on the opposite corner (see image). Whether written by an earlier collector or maker is not known. Dimensions: 4" square x 3 5/8" high. A unique one of a kind piece to add to a collection of still banks and a nice addition to a Folk Art collection (from my own collection). I am a leading specialist in the field of antique coin...

Early 20th Century German Folk Art Animated Pull Along Toy
Located in London, GB
Early 20th Century German Folk Art Animated Pull Along Toy A fun, authentic example of an early 20th Century folk art child’s pull along toy. This animated toy works when the wheels turn, the pig jumps forward as the farmers wife chases him with a knife. The women figures arms move up and down of their own accord and are not animated through the mechanism as the pig is. The mechanism is quite simple, as the wheels turn, an angled rod moves forward to push the pig up and down creating a naïve jumping motion. The item is made completely by hand using pine wood. It’s quite naïve in appearance but great fun and a reminder of the long-gone days when toys meant something and were made with love for children...

"Roll Over Cat" Mechanical Wind-Up Toy by Kohler, Germany 'U.S. Zone' circa 1950
Located in Incline Village, NV
Made in Western Germany U.S. Zone during the occupation between 1945 and 1955, this is a fabulous and brightly colorful toy with terrific action---sure to please. To operate; wind up the toy (shank on side of cat) with the metal key wind provided; release the cat on the floor and it goes around in a circle and rolls over every two seconds. The toy was manufactured by the Kohler company as noted by the "GKN" logo in a triangle seen on the box, and "Kohler" stamped on the toy. The company was founded in 1932 by George Kohler and they were known for making Fine quality toys. The condition of this toy is about as good as it gets---in "store bought" condition, in addition to the box which is in similar near mint condition. The paint on the cat is immaculate in tan, beige, white with a red collar, and grey eyes. The lithography on the box is full of "cat" scenes in bright colors with a yellow backdrop. The toy is all tin except for the plastic orange...
