About the Item
Very early cylindrical weathered and eroded wood stool from the Cameroon. Ringed with a row of connected spiders around edge. Very hard wood, blessed by age, but still very firm and intact. Additional weathering on the bottom from resting on the earth in a shrine.
Spiders were depicted on royal stools which were used by the chiefs in ritual and display. The spiders were a symbol of wisdom and were a link between this world and the that of the ancestors. 14 x 16 x 16 inches.
