Midcentury Masai Shield, Kenya/Tanzania

About the Item

Masai Shield hand painted with pigments on (Cow)hide. This stunning elliptical graphic shield was probably owned by a warrior herder as younger warriors were only permitted to have black, white or gray pigments to decorate their shields. This piece remains in wonderful condition, with normal wear, consisting with age and use. Very nice decorative item which is fumigated!
