Strong Cubist Lobi Standing Figure Ghana Burkina Faso Africa Early 20th Century
About the Item
Finely carved large geometric figure from the Lobi, of Ghana and Burkina Faso, dating from the early to mid-20th century. It has a large head with projecting eyes, nose and mouth creating a captivating gaze. Carved from very hard wood with fine small adze marks creating a vibrant texture. Some insect damage to right foot. Strong cubist face.
On custom base, measures: 22" high x 5" wide x 4 1/2" deep. Commanding presence.
