Horse Weathervane with Gilt Surface on Display Stand

About the Item

A trotting horse weathervane likely modeled after "Ethan Allen" with its original mount and displayed on a custom stand in a slightly upslope manner. The horse with full molded copper body was attribute to J. W. Fiske & Company (1862/3-1903) of New York City circa late 19th century. The gilt surface was likely dated to early 20th century and displays a nice natural patina. Full of vitality and motion, the piece transcends the Americana folk art into a piece of universal sculpture with rustic charm that will shows beautifully in any interior.
